SAN DIEGO – El Petco Park fue testigo de una nueva derrota en la temporada 2025 para los Padres, la número 62 para ser precisos.
En la bahía de San Diego los Padres esperaban abrir una de sus últimas series en casa con una victoria sin embargo los de Baltimore tenían otra cosa en mente.
Después de una primera entrada muy tranquila, en la segunda entrada todo cambió, después de dos bases robadas por parte de los orioles, en el mismo lanzamiento hay que decir, se colocaban corredores en segunda y tercera y con un sólido batazo al jardín derecho, ambos jugadores eran impulsados a la caja registradora y los Padres ya lo perdían 2 carreras por 0 temprano en el partido.
Durante la parte baja de la segunda entrada tanto Gavin Sheets(30)* como Jake Cronenworth(9) conseguían pasaporte y después de un contacto defectuoso, que dejaba fuera a José Iglesias(7), ambos avanzaban una almohadilla y se colocaban listos para anotar, después de un muy buen batazo de Bryce Johnson(29), Gavin Sheets lo conseguiría; aunque el estadio entero pedía que Cronenworth llegara a ‘home’, este fue detenido por Tim Leiper, el coach de 3ra base. Sin embargo, no estuvo en 3ra por mucho tiempo pues un contacto de Luis Arraez (4) salía disparado al jardín izquierdo y lo impulsaba los últimos 90 pies; con eso teníamos juego nuevo en el Petco Park por que el partido estaba empatado.
Así transcurrió el partido hasta la parte alta de la 5ta entrada donde, ya con Adrián Morejon(50) en la lomita del Petco Park, el equipo de Orioles se puso nuevamente en ventaja, esta vez cortesía de un jonrón de Jackson(82).
En la parte baja de la quinta, el equipo de Baltimore ya había conseguido 2 outs, sin embargo les costó trabajo cerrar y, con un roletazo de parte de Ramón Laureano(5) , Freddy Fermín(54) llegaba a la almohadilla de “home” para volver a emparejar los cartones de la carreras.
Con ese 3 a 3 en el marcador, llegó un doloroso momento durante la parte alta de la séptima entrada cuando después de su lanzamiento 25 Jason Adam(40) se tiró al piso y solo un desgarrador grito de dolor mientras se sujetaba la rodilla derecha, tuvo que salir del encuentro y del campo en el carro que lo llevaría hasta el clubhouse para ser evaluado*.
En ese momento el elegido por Shildt para hacer su arribo a la lomita sería el cerrador de San Diego, Robert Suárez(75) quien consiguió los dos outs restantes, sin embargo permitió una carrera.
En la parte baja de la séptima entrada, los Padres no consiguieron anotar, pero, un jugador anotó su nombre con letras doradas en el béisbol de la MLB, pues, Luis Arraez consiguió su “hit” número 1,000 en su carrera en las Grandes ligas y aunque no pudo recorrer el diamante, el venezolano llegó muy contento al dogout.
Así, con el 4-3 en la pizarra transcurrió el partido con normalidad pues con todo y sus 2 turnos de bat, los Padres no pudieron empatar el encuentro y cayeron en SAN Diego ante más de 45,000 de sus aficionados.
Su siguiente partido será en el segundo de la serie también ante los Orioles en el Petco Park.
