45,000 espectadores fueron testigos de la victoria de los Padres de San Diego en el Petco Park de San Diego California.
San Diego – En un domingo de jersey de camuflaje, los Padres de San Diego consiguieron vencer, con marcador de 7-3, a los Cardenales de San Luis para llevarse la serie en el Petco Park y entregarle la alegría 62 a su afición en la temporada 2025 de la MLB.
Todo arrancó en la parte baja de la 4ta entrada cuando Jake Cronenworth consiguió conectar un batazo que se escapó por todo el jardín derecho para convertirse en jonrón productor, pues empujaba a Laureano de la segunda base al platillo de ‘home’, y con eso los Padres se ponían por delante 2 carreras a 0.
Con ese dos a cero y después de 2 entradas muy tranquilas, llegamos a la baja de la séptima, tocaba el turno al bat del catcher de San Diego Freddy Fermín, que enviaba un batazo rolado por el jardín derecho que lo dejaba en primera base. Fernando Tatis Jr, tenia su segundo turno al bat y convertía en doble un roletazo por el jardín central. Después del ‘fly out’ de Luis Arraez, tocaba turno al bat de “el ministro” Manny Machado, quien conseguía pasaporte y con eso las bases estaban llenas para San Diego, Jackson Merrill conectaba un batazo que se iba pegado a la línea del jardín derecho y se convertía en triple pues enviaba a Fermín, Tatis y Machado a la caja registradora, para que los locales se pusieran en ventaja de 5. En su turno al bat, también en la quinta, Xander Bogaerts conectaba un batazo que era un fly out, sin embargo al ser el segundo out, Jackson Merrill arrancaba desde 3ra y se convertía en la sexta carrera de los Padres, la cuarta en la misma entrada.
Llegó el momento de la 8va entrada en la que el primero al orden del bat (en la entrada) Ramón Laureano logró conectar un batazo que se escapó por todo el jardín central y se convirtió en jonrón, el primero para el con el uniforme de los Padres.
Así, el partido llegó a la parte alta de la novena entrada, al inicio Shildt (manager de Padres) se había decantado por Adrián Morejon para cerrar el partido, pero el cubano no salió en su tarde y fueron 5 los bateadores que llegaron a base de manera consecutiva además de 2 carreras registradas para los visitantes. Con el peligro inminente y en situación de salvamento se produjo un cambio de pitcher y desde el bullpen salió el cerrador Robert Suárez, quien inmediatamente retiró a un bateador por el método del ponche y el segundo se fue por un ‘fly out’ atrapado por el jardinero izquierdo Ramón Laureano, ahí se produjo la 3ra carrera para los de San Luis. Con 26 outs ya generados para los Padres llegaba el turno al bat de Wynn, quien conseguía conectar sin embargo salía directamente a las zona de Robert Suárez que sin titubear conseguía el out 27 y terminaba el partido para San Diego.
Con marcador de 7-3, se produjo la victoria 61 para los Padres en la temporada 2025 de la MLB y consiguen llevarse la serie en casa antes Cardenales. El siguiente partido de los Padres será el lunes 4 de Agosto, cuando visiten el Chase Field de Phoenix Arizona para el primero de 3 partidos en casa de los D-Backs.
